Don't Quit
Anyone who is a part of the NPHC can appreciate and truly understand the meaning of this poem. If you're not greek you should like this as well. I know that this is a poem that has gotten me through soooooo much!!! It will definitely be the main thing going through my head as a take my journey towards a better me!!!
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

not too bad
I've been doing pretty good with staying on track with my eating. I can admit I had a weak moment the other day and had a Whopper Jr. from Burger King lolol. I never said it would be easy, so for the most part I have been doing wonderful!!!
I ended up switching how I was eating. Instead of eating roast beef for dinner, I was eating it for lunch and would have my grilled chicken salad. I didn't like going to bed with that in my stomach. I always eat 3 hours before I go to sleep, but still I wanted to eat the lighter meal for dinner. What's crazy is that I tried on a pair of pants that were too tight and couldn't button back in early November, and now I can button them! HOW ABOUT THAT! LOL
I called Anytime Fitness to see what all we needed to do to have our passes transferred up here. It's time to start adding exercise to the plan. I am going to weigh myself today to see where I'm at. I didn't weigh in at the beginning of this week. Ninah Bee and I are going to be taking before pictures this weekend, so that by the time June gets here we can see the after results.
I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I'm determined to change my lifestyle!!!

todays breakfast
I decided to switch it up this morning...I had a protein smoothie with turkey bacon...in my smoothies I use the following: frozen blueberries & strawberries, a banana, 2% milk, and on scoop of whey protein...it's actually pretty good...don't knock it until you try it!!

still on track
I didn't get a chance to post my meals after breakfast yesterday...needless to say, I stayed on track!
For lunch I had a grilled chicken salad with balsamic vinegarette dressing. Dinner was roast beef with carrots and mashed potatoes. I know I need to do away with the mashed potatoes, but it's the first week. I don't believe in just cutting out things cold turkey! I'm working on monitoring what I eat, portion size, drinking more water, and eating more than just three times a day. Next week I will be adding cardio to the mix and cutting out all white foods, which isn't hard to do.
So...that was yesterday's meals!

a better start than yesterday
I'm definitely proud of the breakfast I had. Turkey bacon, apples, and a honey oat bran muffin with raisins! What you don't see on this picture is the apple dip that I had as well. I know I know...baby steps!!! LOL
I told my Husband that he could not have any of my muffins, so I guess I will make him some cinnamon apple muffins today for him to have for breakfast. I know that sounds mean, but I'm on a mission!! Lol, so yes if I have to be selfish to get to where I want to be then so be it!!!!

shaky start
I have discovered that the only way I can be successful in this lifestyle change to is to be more prepared. I cannot wait until Monday to try to cook things up and prepare what I need. My meals today consisted of things that were in the refrigerator from this weekend. I have leftover Mac n' Cheese from Boston Market. Lunch was a cold piece of pizza and a soft taco. I snacked on the food I was cooking later in the day to keep from passing out like Ninah Bee almost did today! Lol.
My feet are hurting like crazy! I was in the kitchen for 5 hours straight. I made my oat bran muffins, cooked up the chicken for my salads, cooked the roast beef for dinner, hand peeled the potatoes since I couldn't find my potato peeler, cleaned out my refrigerator, and did three loads of dishes by hand. A chich is worn out! Needless to say, dinner was delish!!!
Let's see what Day 2 brings!!!

Just Do It
It's so much easier to say "I will start tomorrow" or "well it's okay for me to eat this because it's just one day." This is exactly how I'm feeling today. Woke up to snow on the ground, a stuffy nose, and a lazy attitude! Not a good mixture! Knowing that this is how I'm feeling today, I decided to get up and get moving! I must go to the grocery store this morning! In order for me to achieve my goal I have to have the right foods in my house.
The meals for Monday - Wednesday include:
Lunch
Grilled Chicken Salad w/ Balsamic Dressing
Dinner
Lean Roast Beef w/ Red Skin Potatoes and Carrots

Breakfast
Smoothie or Oatmeal Muffin with Raisins & Turkey BaconLunch

I know I don't have the snacks listed, but there will be snacks in between meals. It is important to eat small meals throughout the day versus skipping meals and eating a large meal. I've been trying to get Ninah Bee to start eating more, which is why I've been sending her reminders every morning to eat breakfast. Lol. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself! You can also take a look at http://www.webmd.com/diet/guide/most-important-meal.

"I'm going to lose weight starting in 2 weeks" "I'm serious this time" Okay tomorrow starts the beginning of Diet XYZ"
Blah blah blah!!!
These are all the things that I've said to myself time and time again, but never followed through with any of them. It was the "in" thing to do, but never once did I attempt to change my state of mind. I was basically just going through the motions!
I have finally reached the point where I'm ready to make a lifestyle change and have decided to document it along the way. Luckily, I have the chance to conquer this goal with my friend and fellow blogger Ninah Bee!!!
With that being said, HERE WE GO!!!!!
